new political party, the American Green Tea Party- Joke of the Day!

Joke of the Day!

Roseanne Barr threw her hat into the presidential ring last night, announcing during an appearance on The Tonight Show that she would be running in the 2012 presidential election.

“I am running for President of the United States,” the former “Roseanne” star said as she was showered by confetti. “I’m totally serious, ‘cause I want to be part of the debates, because, you know, I want to represent the taxpayers.”

Barr said she would be forming a new political party, the American Green Tea Party, to support her campaign, explaining that she’s “not for either party because they both suck and they’re both a bunch of criminals.”

The comedienne also announced that she would be selecting the American taxpayers as her running mate, explaining, “I want to put the questions to the panel about like where the hell did our money go. That’s number one.”

Among her other platform issues are the elimination of taxes, which could create difficulties for her campaign if she’s aiming to have American taxpayers as her vice president.

“I’ll forgive all student loans, all debts,” Barr said. “There’ll be no more money, no more money systems. Everything will be based on barter and growing and eating vegetables … People can’t eat money.”

She also said she doesn’t believe in marriage and that “the legalization of marijuana is number one” among her priorities, along with an “end to all drug wars.”

Barr was equally direct when it comes to foreign policy. “I think we should invade Mexico because they’ve got oil,” the actress explained. “And then we just annex them and then we don’t have people sneaking over here anymore.”

In response to her announcement, host Jay Leno introduced a variety of “Barr 2012″ paraphernalia, including a bumper sticker reading “Roseanne For President — Isn’t It Time We Had a President With Some Nuts” with a picture from Barr’s recent Lifetime reality show, “Roseanne’s Nuts,” which follows Barr’s life with her boyfriend and son as they run her macadamia nut farm in Hawaii.

Barr’s announcement is likely geared toward fostering interest in her latest series, but in response to queries from her Twitter followers, Barr tweeted early on Friday that she was serious in her desire to run.
“For those who ask: yes I’m serious about running 4 pres. so I can speak on behalf of the taxpayers of this country who r dissed 2 the max,” she tweeted.

On the Tonight Show, Barr explained that she was inspired by Sarah Palin to create her own reality show and, consequently, to enter the presidential race.

“That’s kind of what got me to thinking that I, too, should run for president, if she can,” Barr explained, before Leno pointed out that Palin has not yet announced a 2012 run.
